Within the framework of THE World University Rankings 2021, a list of universities in eleven humanitarian and technical areas has been published. NTU “KhPI” is presented in three categories:
- “physical science” – place 1001+ (second position among Ukrainian universities)
- “business and economics” – place 601+ (third position among Ukrainian universities)
- “engineering” – place 1001+ (fourth position among Ukrainian universities).
The rating in “physical science” assesses universities that are active in the fields of mathematics and statistics, physics and astronomy, chemistry, geology and others. n this category, Ukraine is represented by the following universities:

- V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University
- Sumy State University
The rating in “business and economics” presents the results of universities’ assessment of performance in such subjects as business and management, accounting and finance and economics. This category is represented by three Ukrainian universities:
- NTU “KhPI”
- NU “Lviv Polytechnic”
- Sumy State University
The rating in “engineering” shows the universities that are leading in the disciplines: general engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, machinery and aerospace engineering, civil and chemical engineering. Among the best Ukrainian universities in this category are:

- NURE
- V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University
