Ukrainian higher education has reached another important milestone in its integration into the European Higher Education Area. The National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance has been admitted to the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR).
EQAR is the official register of quality assurance agencies within the European Higher Education Area. It includes agencies that have successfully undergone an independent external review and demonstrated substantial compliance with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG).
NAQA’s inclusion followed an extensive international evaluation of its activities, procedures, and quality assurance practices against European standards.
Why is this important for Ukrainian universities?
Registration in EQAR represents a significant step towards strengthening international confidence in Ukraine’s higher education quality assurance system.
It demonstrates that the national agency responsible for evaluating and accrediting higher education programmes operates in accordance with the shared European quality assurance framework.
This achievement can facilitate closer academic cooperation, strengthen trust between Ukrainian and international universities, and support the development of joint educational initiatives and academic mobility.
What does this mean for international students?
For prospective students considering higher education in Ukraine, this development provides additional confidence in the country’s commitment to internationally recognised quality assurance principles.
However, choosing a university still requires careful evaluation of the specific study programme. Applicants should review its accreditation status, curriculum, language of instruction, study format, and relevance to their academic and professional goals.
Students planning to work or continue their education abroad should also check the qualification recognition requirements of their destination country. NAQA’s registration in EQAR does not automatically guarantee the recognition of every Ukrainian diploma or the right to practise a regulated profession abroad.
The International Education Center “INGEK” welcomes this important achievement for Ukrainian higher education.
We continue to assist international applicants in exploring Ukrainian universities and academic programmes, providing guidance on admission requirements, accreditation, study formats, and future educational opportunities.
Quality education begins with an informed choice.
