Uman National University of Horticulture is a well-known agricultural educational institution with rich traditions, a unique history and the desire to conquer new heights and be one of the best agricultural universities in the country.
Its history dates back to 1844. Since the establishment of the educational institution, it has graduated more than 40 thousand highly qualified specialists, including 32 academicians, 700 doctors of science and more than two thousand candidates of science.
The educational research and production faculty of the university has 1060 hectares of land, fields, orchards, vegetable gardens, forests, a nursery, greenhouses, a greenhouse complex, a refrigerator with modern equipment for storing fruits, fruit processing workshops,
Much attention is paid to the physical education of students. More than 150 sporting events are held annually, in which more than 6.5 thousand students take part. The university is the base for preparing the Ukrainian National Team for international championships in table tennis and other sports.
The university develops cooperation with national institutions and universities around the world. Maintains business relations with universities in Poland, the USA, France, Denmark, the Czech Republic, China, Uzbekistan, Belarus and other countries. Every year, teachers and students undergo internships in the USA, France, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Poland and Thailand. Uman NUH is a member of the World Association of Magna Charta Universities and the International Association of Scientific Horticulture.
The scientific and practical seminar “High Technologies in Horticulture,” initiated by the university, plays an important role in the development of domestic and international horticulture. It has been held for 27 years in a row.
Currently, the university’s activities are aimed at improving skills, intensifying scientific research, and supporting agricultural production, which is in line with the socio-economic reforms in the country.
