On 26 November 2025, a meeting was held at the Ukrainian State Center for International Education with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Ukraine, Mr. Mohammed Usman Suleiman, and the Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of Nigeria, Mr. Jude Igbokwe.

The initiative for the meeting came from the Nigerian side, highlighting Nigeria’s strong interest in expanding educational opportunities for its citizens.

With more than 60% of Nigeria’s population consisting of children and young people under the age of 24, the demand for accessible and high-quality higher education continues to grow. Ukrainian universities remain an attractive option, offering strong academic standards combined with affordable tuition fees.

Nigeria has consistently ranked among the top 10 countries sending international students to Ukraine. Currently, 399 Nigerian students are enrolled in Ukrainian higher education institutions.

Both sides discussed priority cooperation issues and expressed readiness to jointly work on creating favorable conditions to expand access for Nigerian citizens to Ukrainian educational programs.
